Valley Committees
Welcome to The Valley Committees' website!
We appreciate your interest and want you to know that we believe you will find this group of dynamic women exciting and pleasant to be with. We share a love of music and are dedicated to extending music education and experiences to the youth of our community. We are business professionals, musicians, artists, homemakers, retired teachers and administrators who volunteer time and talent to the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
We actively support the LA Phil by raising funds for the Philharmonic's community outreach programs for students in the greater Los Angeles area. Students from elementary school through high school are given opportunities to hear the Philharmonic in concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall and to experience presentations in their classrooms that prepare them to hear our world-class orchestra. In recent years we have given support to the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA), the educational and performing program brought to our city by the charismatic genius who is the LA Phil's Music Director, Gustavo Dudamel. Volunteers from the Valley Committees assist at Toyota Symphonies for Youth and Symphonies for Schools at WDCH, and the Music Mobile, which provides experences with musical instruments.
Our fundraising events are varied, but center on afternoon Salons with performances by LA Phil musicians and others who perform in homes and other venues. These performances are followed by catered hors d'oeuvres and wine receptions where we can meet and socialize with the musicians.
The Valley Committees members have time for the social side of sharing music: business/luncheon meetings in homes or country clubs, field trips, a Holiday Tea, and an annual welcome party, all with refreshments and musical entertainment.
We would like to meet you and tell you more about our committee. To contact us please call Melanie Sanguinet, Manager, Volunteer Activities at 213.972.0753, or msanguinet@laphil.org.
