Jazz at the Bowl is a tradition both beloved and thriving. In the hands of Christian McBride, our Creative Chair for Jazz, 2009 is shaping up to be another very memorable season for great jazz under the stars.
Two series of four Wednesday evenings: JZ1, JZ2
Last year, KCRW’s World Festival celebrated its tenth birthday, a fitting milestone for this imaginatively eclectic series, which continues to flourish and convert new fans every season. Hand-selected artists from around the globe make these concerts some of the Bowl’s most enthralling presentations.
Two series of Friday or Saturday evenings Weekends at the Hollywood Bowl are the place for big names - including Thomas Wilkins, Principal Guest Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra - fireworks, and, well ... spectaculars.

In just four concerts, our Sunset series manages to encapsulate the range of programming that makes the Bowl so great. This year the featured opera will be the American classic Porgy and Bess. We can’t wait to tell you more details!

Special concerts that are not on any series include some of the most popular events of the summer, from traditional favorites - i.e., the July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular and JVC Jazz - to the totally unexpected - unique and unusual presentations that become the talk of the season.
