ETHAN BEARMAN joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic horn section during the 2008 Hollywood Bowl season. He holds the position of Assistant Horn, in the Bud and Barbara Hellman Chair. A longtime resident of Pasadena, California, Bearman studied with Brian Drake and then attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he received a bachelor’s degree and studied with Eli Epstein.

After returning to Southern California, Bearman enjoyed a varied freelance career that included performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, the Santa Barbara Symphony, the Kennedy Center Opera, and on recordings for film and television projects.

Bearman performs new works frequently, having appeared with the Philharmonic’s New Music Group and Ensemble X, with whom he recorded a collection of works by Judith Weir. His musical career also has included working with musicians outside the classical setting, including Rob Zombie and Josie Cotton (of “Valley Girl” fame).

When not performing, Bearman enjoys skiing, traveling, eating good food, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, a veterinarian, greatly enjoy their two young boys, Owen and Elias, and their dog Gertie.
