Music director and vocal arranger KEVIN STITES (Musical Director and Conductor) returns to the Hollywood Bowl after his performance as conductor for last summer’s production of Les Misérables. On Broadway, Stites has served as music supervisor, arranger, and music director for the Broadway musical A Tale of Two Cities; music supervisor for The Color Purple, for which he also composed the incidental music; and music director for Les Misérables (2006 revival). As a music director and conductor, Stites’ recent credits include The Threepenny Opera; Fiddler on the Roof (2004 revival) and Nine (which won a 2003 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival) – both directed by David Leveaux; the Trevor Nunn/Susan Stroman revival of Oklahoma!; Maury Yeston’s Titanic (which won a 1997 Tony Award for Best Musical); the revival of Leonard Bernstein’s On The Town (directed by George C. Wolfe); Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard; and Pamela’s First Musical (BC/EFA benefit concert).

Theatrical national tours include The Color Purple, Martin Guerre (American premiere), Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, and Titanic (Music Supervisor). He conducted Chess in Toronto, and in his native Chicago he served as Music Director for over 60 productions, receiving six Joseph Jefferson Awards for his work on Sweeney Todd, Chess, Pal Joey, Sunday in the Park with George, Baby, and Windy City. In Chicago, he also served as Music Director for the acclaimed Ovations series at the Auditorium Theatre.

Stites’ TV and film credits include Reefer Madness (Showtime), the NBC primetime variety special ROSIE LIVE!; The Late Show with David Letterman, Rosie, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Tony Awards. Future projects include positions on Richard Maltby Jr., David Shire, and John Weidman’s Take Flight and Maury Yeston, Thomas Meehan, and Peter Stone’s Death Takes a Holiday.
