LEWIS CLEALE currently appears as Joseph Smith, Mission President, Jesus & others, a role which he originated, in the Tony Award-winning The Book of Mormon on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include: Sondheim on Sondheim, Spamalot (Galahad, Black Knight & others) directed by Mike Nichols, Michel Legrand’s Amour, Once Upon a Mattress (Sir Harry) with Sarah Jessica Parker and Swinging on a Star for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. Off Broadway: A New Brain (Gordon) for Lincoln Center Theater, El Gallo in The Fantasticks, Time & Again for MTC, & Call Me Madam opposite Tyne Daly for Encores!. He has toured nationally as Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard with Petula Clark and as Joe Cable in South Pacific with Robert Goulet. Lewis has played more that 30 leading roles in regional theaters across the country including Bick Benedict in Giant (Signature,) Giorgio in Passion (Helen Hayes Award,) and John Adams in 1776 (Helen Hayes nomination) for Ford's Theatre. His voice can be heard on Infinite Joy: The Songs of William Finn, Encores from Encores!, Myths and Hymns, Great Musicals, Book of Mormon, Call Me Madam, Amour, Once Upon a Mattress, & Swinging on a Star. He can be heard in the Disney film FROZEN as the voice of Cliff the troll. TV: ELEMENTARY, BrainDEAD, B.L. Stryker.
