Peter Rofé
Basses
PETER ROFÉ has been a bassist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 1986. He began his orchestral career as the principal bassist with the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Opera and held those posts for fourteen years. He also performs with the Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Society. Rofé has performed as a guest artist at many music festivals, including the Chautauqua Symphony, the Kapalua Chamber Music Festival, the San Diego Mainly Mozart Festival, the Grand Teton Music Festival, and the Sitka Chamber Music Festival.
In addition to performing, Rofé has served on the music faculty of several colleges and universities, including California State University at Los Angeles, California State University at San Diego, the Chautauqua Summer School of Music, Pepperdine University, and Occidental College. Since 1990, he has been a faculty member of the music department at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
