Miss YVONNE LAM was born in 1981 in Los Angeles, California. She demonstrated her first signs of musical talent at the age of 6 when she learned to play both the violin and the piano at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. At the age of 8, Miss Lam captured first prize at her maiden solo performance with the Southwest Youth Music Festival Orchestra. In 1999, she graduated from Beverly Hills High School, where she was a member of the Beverly Hills High Scool Madrigal Singers and also accompanied them on the piano. Miss Lam is presently attending the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she is majoring in the violin and minoring in the piano.

In California, Miss Lam has previously performed with the Marina del Rey/Westchester Symphony, the Pacific Palisades Symphony, the Brentwood/Westwood Orchestra, the Glendale Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, the Peninsula Symphony, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been a member of the American Youth Symphony and the Philiban Trio.

Just within the past two years, Miss Lam has received the following awards: 1998 Grand Prize winner in the Pasadena Instrumental Competition (California); 1999 First Place winner in the Bronislaw Kaper Awards (California); 1999 Level-One Aard for piano during ARTS WEEK from the National Foundation of Advancement in the Arts (Florida); 1999 Gold Medal winner in the New York Chorus Festival; and 1999 First Place winner in the Donna Reed Foundation Competition (Iowa). She is also the recipient of scholarships from such diverse organizations as the Young Musician's Foundation, the Ahmanson Foundation, the Leni Fe Bland Foundation, ISOMATA and the Music Academy of the West.

Miss Lam is currently studying violin with Victor Danchencko and piano with Boris Slutsky at the Peabody Conservatory. In the early years, she began her violin training with Laura Schmieder and in recent years continued training with Alexander Treger. In the piano, Miss Lam began her early training with Yohsuke Suga and continued in recent years with Louise Lepley. Miss Lam continues to enjoy the mentorship of Alexander Treger and Louise Leply when she is at home in Los Angeles.
