The committee was originally founded in 1951 by a small group of civic minded, internationally oriented woman who appreciated music and had a dream of founding an organization whose focus was to support the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
In an effort to reach out to the international community the wives of the Chefs de Poste of the Consular Corps stationed in Los Angeles were invited to become special members of the International Committee thus fostering international good will and understanding through the universal voice of music.
Most of the committee's meetings are held at the residences of Consular Corps members on the third Wednesday of each month from October to May. Because the committee meets at these private homes, new members must be introduced and highly recommended by two members in good standing. They must also be truly motivated to pursue the goals set by the committee. It is a multi cultural committee with members representing different countries. What makes it so special, is the diversity of its members and how well they work together and accomplish great things.
Two great fund raising projects were launched for the year 2008.

At its 57th Annual Benefit Ball, the International Committee will celebrate and honor the country of France. “La Vie en Rose” is the theme of the Ball which will be held under the auspices of the French Consul General and Mrs. Phillipe Larrieu. The date is set for May 10, 2008 and will be held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion – an exiting event not to be missed!!!
The second fun project will also be a fund raiser for the LA Philharmonic Orchestra. A committee has been formed to conceive a sequel to the successful international cookbook – “The Book and the Cadenza” originally published in 1969.

Members are encouraged to share one of their favorite recipes with a brief anecdote about the history of the special dish and possibly a description of the person from whom the recipe originated. Recipes will also be solicited from musician members of the la philharmonic Orchestra and anyone connected with them.
This idea was proposed by a future associate member of our committee, Diana Taylor, from Brazil, assisted by her counterpart, a longtime member of the committee, Mirella Ventress.
All participants are encouraged to e-mail their recipes to dianataylor@prodigy.net or mail to Mirella Ventress, 211 California Ave. Suite 202, Santa Monica, CA 90403.
By providing a treasured family recipe, we are passing on to the future generations something from our ancestors.
Please Note: Deadline for submission is December 31, 2007
