Founded in 1935, the Long Beach Auxiliary recently celebrated its 72nd anniversary. As an affiliate committee, we actively support the Los Angeles Philharmonic and further cultural and educational values of music in our local community. We draw our membership from Long Beach and its neighboring communities of Seal Beach, Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Lakewood, Huntington Beach, and Costa Mesa.
Musicales
Musicales bring members together for beautiful music and comraderie. Offered four times a year, musicales provide a program of live music with audience discussion with the artist, followed by a luncheon or reception. Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians who recently performed include Dennis Trembly, bass; Ingrid Chun, violin; Anne Marie Gabriele, oboe; Meredith Snow, viola; and David Garrett, cello. Occasionally, musicales include a group, such as the Janaki String Trio or classical guitarists.
Concert Tickets
We help the Los Angeles Philharmonic build an audience by actively promoting subscription ticket sales. As a service to members and the community, we provide a chartered bus to Walt Disney Concert Hall for the Friday Midday Series and the Sunday Sampler Series. For Long Beach high school orchestra and band students, we provide the opportunity for them to attend a concert each year at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our members provide volunteer services for the youth concerts held at Walt Disney Concert Hall, participate in the Philharmonic Friends Campaign, which is an annual financial appeal with a history dating back to 1934, and attend our various local and affiliate fundraising efforts. Our members share a passion for classical music and a desire to support the Los Angeles Philharmonic. We welcome new members. Won't you join us?
