Valley Committee

LA Philharmonic musicians Stacy and Minor Wetzel performing for a Valley Committee Salon

The Valley Committee membership is drawn from the wider San Fernando Valley with members from Studio City to Westlake Village and Chatsworth. Founded in 1949, with a membership of over 60 women, Valley Committee has been a dedicated and significant fund-raiser for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its music education outreach programs. This congenial and diverse group of women come from education, music, real estate, law, travel, business, medicine and traditional homemaking careers.

Valley Committee offers women an opportunity for service to youth, sending groups of school children by bus to experience the joy of hearing the LA Philharmonic live at Toyota Symphonies for Youth with the added the excitement of visiting Walt Disney Concert Hall.

This Committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Braemar Country Club for organization business and lunch followed by music. Programs are a highlight of the day, featuring outstanding instrumental and vocal artists. Much variety in these programs has included LA Philharmonic performers, a talk by the LA Phil Librarian, young talented Spotlight Award winners, and presentations by music professors from USC and California State University, Northridge, which have included World Music and Music Therapy as well as chamber music artists and gifted university students.

Active fund raising is the focus of Valley Committee, which has produced for the past 20 years the elegant ìJazz for the Philharmonic,î a silent auction with a big band for dancing. Turning to more intimate salons since 2004, many of our events feature performances by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians in private homes, followed by elegant receptions offering attendees a rare opportunity to meet the artists.

New members are always welcome. Dues for active membership are $50.00 per year.
