About This Performance
Bowl Hall of Famer Joshua Bell brings all four seasons to summer at the Hollywood Bowl when he leads the LA Phil from the violin. Former Dudamel Conducting Fellow Perry So conducts Tchaikovsky in his Bowl debut.
Attached to the four (three-movement) concertos that Vivaldi composed to convey the four seasons are four descriptive sonnets that Vivaldi probably wrote himself. He also provided instructions in the score such as “The barking dog” (second movement of “Spring”), “Languor caused by the heat” (first movement of “Summer”), and “the drunkards have fallen asleep” (second movement of “Autumn”).
