About This Performance
Dudamel pays tribute to the Waltz King and is joined for Bruch’s popular concerto by the eminent Zukerman.
Overcoming his father’s violent life-long opposition, Johann Jr. eventually took his father’s crown as the “Waltz King.” In the 1870s, Strauss and his orchestra toured the U.S.; in Boston, he even led a “Monster Concert” of over 1000 performers in his “Blue Danube” waltz, among other pieces.
