While Godfrey Reggio’s groundbreaking documentary Koyaanisqatsi focused on modern life, its sequel Powaqqatsi focuses on the conflict between traditional ways and industrialization in developing countries. As with Koyaanisqatsi, the film is strongly related to its Glass soundtrack, which this time uses children’s voices, in harmony with the film’s message and images. Following the Bowl’s hugely successful 2009 performance of Koyaanisqatsi, Philip Glass and his ensemble return to accompany the sequel, which will be projected on the Bowl's big screen.
