About this Artist
UniverSOUL Hip Hop was founded in 2014 by executive and artistic director Tiffany Bong. As an international, award-winning Hip Hop dance artist, educator, entrepreneur, and leader, she recalls her first memory of Hip Hop transforming her life from “black and white to COLOR” in 6th grade through watching an assembly at her school. From that initial seed, she has dedicated 20-years in dance education and Hip Hop culture to bring next-level pedagogy and programs into diverse spaces that center on communal practice and wellness.
Birthed by Black and Brown American youth and rooted in the African diaspora, Hip Hop is an inclusive, transcendent practice of LIBERATION that frees us to express our stories, embrace the beauty within, and envision a world to be. It is an unfolding, UniverSOUL tapestry of our shared humanity.
UniverSOUL artists are lifelong practitioners that draw on the origins and impact of Hip Hop/Street dance as a cultural agent to empower both individual and communal identities. We cultivate cross-cultural and intergenerational experiences. All are invited to “COME AS YOU ARE” and be transformed.
UniverSOUL Hip Hop has rapidly grown and expanded featuring In-School & After-School programs, touring performances, community engagements, productions and professional development for arts educators across Los Angeles & Orange County area.
