About this Artist

Robert Fink is Professor of Musicology, Chair of Music Industry, and the Director of the Berry Gordy Music Industry Center at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, which he served as interim Dean in 2024-25. Professor Fink has published widely on popular and contemporary music, focusing on musical analysis, minimalist and experimental music, timbre in popular music, and the musical politics of the long 1960s. His pioneering UCLA course on electronic dance music was named "coolest college pop music class" by Spin Magazine in 2002, and he was honored with the university's Distinguished Teaching Prize in 2015.
