Turbo Sonidero, an East Side San Jose music producer with roots in Puebla, is a pioneering force in the global cumbia scene. He's carved out a unique and compelling sound by fusing the vibrant energy of Cumbia Sonidera with the aesthetics of Rap and electronic music. Since 2008, Turbo Sonidero has been a dedicated record collector and innovative producer, co-founding Grupo Jejeje and spearheading the Kumbia Net/Kumbia Obscura collective and Discos Piramide Record Label, championing exciting new cumbia talent from Mexico and beyond.

As the founder of Kumbia Net, an international collective of producers, DJs, and visual artists, he promotes a cutting-edge blend of cumbia sonidera, electronic music, and rap. Further solidifying his commitment to the genre, he established Discos Piramide, a record label dedicated to releasing Kumbia Net artists on physical formats like cassettes and vinyl.

An ambassador of cumbia across Latin America, the USA, and Europe, Turbo Sonidero (aka Román Zepeda) has extensively toured the globe, captivating audiences with his distinctive sound. His work has garnered recognition in esteemed publications such as Vogue MX, The New Yorker, Resident Advisor, XLR8R, KQED and Fader.

From his early days as an avid vinyl enthusiast to his embrace of digital production, Turbo Sonidero has collaborated with labels worldwide, including La Selva Records (Spain), Symphonic Records (UK), Little Beat More (Italy), Discos Más (USA), Roma Records (Colombia), Okra Label (Japan), and Discos Rolas (USA). Notably, in 2024, he curated a Kumbia Net compilation for Roma Records.

Turbo Sonidero has graced the stages of renowned festivals globally, including CONSCIOUS MADNESS FEST (Germany), GENERATE! FESTIVAL (Germany), MONKEY WEEK FEST (Spain), FESTIVAL CENTRO (Colombia), SONIDO CLASH MUSIC FEST (USA) and many more. He has shared the stage with iconic artists such as Sonido La Changa, Sonido La Conga, Frente Cumbiero, Ana Tijoux, The Stooges, Los Tigres del Norte, Cuco, Egyptian Lover, and Nortec Collective. He has also performed at Boiler Room MX and Grand Performances L.A.

In a significant achievement, Turbo Sonidero was included in the iconic DJ Kicks Compilation curated by Quantic in 2024.
