Hannah Norman

About this Artist

Hannah Norman is a versatile Jazz, Neo-soul, and Folk singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. Inspired by artists like Esperanza Spalding and Lianne La Havas, Norman is currently studying jazz voice at the USC Thornton School of Music. Norman spent the first part of her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee and she spent her weekends singing with family in a small church in Little Rock, Arkansas. She brought her talent with her as her family eventually moved to Irvine, California. Throughout her moves, Norman developed strong values centered around kindness and open-mindedness, which shine brightly through her artistry. Norman fell in love with jazz toward the end of her high school timeline, and arriving at USC she found inspiration and mentorship from jazz pianist, producer, and musical luminary Patrice Rushen, who was a professor in the Popular Music program and mentored her through jazz performance classes. Norman recently had the opportunity to perform in Leimert Park Jazz Festival's "Narratives & Notes: Jazz Through Her Lens” program, during which she collaborated with musicians and performed in the beautiful Ebell of Los Angeles. She currently holds the role of Assistant Musical Director for the award-winning A Capella group the SoCal VoCals and she is working on new music for voice and guitar. Norman has performed her original music at multiple small venues around L.A. and she frequently provides background vocals for live performances and recordings in and out of the Thornton School and the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
