About this Artist

Gaudy Sánchez is a Venezuelan-born trumpeter, educator, lifelong-learning conductor, and cultural leader currently serving as Artistic Director of YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s youth orchestra program. Since joining YOLA in 2019 and assuming the artistic leadership role in 2024, Sánchez has led significant artistic expansion across the program locally and nationally, including orchestras, choirs, jazz ensembles, mariachi groups, chamber music programs, and interdisciplinary collaborations serving students across Los Angeles and USA. His artistic vision centers on collective music-making, cultural connection, artistic excellence, and holistic youth development through music education.

Under his leadership, YOLA ensembles have performed at major venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Ford, and SoFi Stadium alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic and internationally recognized artists including Billie Eilish, Natalia Lafourcade, Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Ray Chen, Carlos Vives, and Mary Mary. Sánchez has also led and developed international collaborations, cultural exchanges, and YOLA tours in Mexico, France, Spain, and Colombia, including partnerships with organizations such as the Dudamel Foundation.

Originally trained through Venezuela’s El Sistema movement, founded by Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu, Sánchez performed internationally as a member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, appearing at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, and BBC Proms. He later served as Artistic Director of El Sistema Táchira, helping expand the program through community-based educational initiatives.

In addition to his leadership at YOLA, Sánchez maintains an active artistic career in Los Angeles as a performer. He regularly collaborates with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, and other ensembles across California while continuing to present masterclasses, lectures, and chamber music performances nationally and internationally. He is also co-founder of Brass Connection, a Los Angeles-based brass quintet dedicated to artistic excellence, education, and community engagement, and is an exclusive artist for the Austrian brand Schagerl.
