She first captured international attention with her breakthrough role in Steven Spielberg’s epic miniseries Into the West, earning critical acclaim and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
A powerful screen presence, Carmelo has built a diverse portfolio of recent high-profile television roles. She starred as a series regular in NBC’s sci-fi drama La Brea and has delivered memorable recurring performances in AMC’s Dark Winds, CBS’ NCIS: Origins, and the BBC/Amazon Western The English. On the big screen, her leading performance in the indie thriller Imprint earned her Best Actress honors at the American Indian Film Festival.
