About this Artist
The West Coast-based MILLENNIUM CONSORT SINGERS came together in 2007, at the instigation of Kelly Garrison, Director of the Da Camera Society, to perform choral masterpieces from the Renaissance and the 20th and 21st centuries. Their opening concert, before a completely full audience at St. Basil’s Cathedral, featuring works by the contemporary British composer John Tavener and his earlier namesake, John Taverner, was a spectacular success. Since then MCS programs have included numerous American premieres of works by Jonathan Harvey and other British composers, music by contemporary Americans such as Tom Flaherty and Kurt Rohde, as well as a rich range of English music from the Golden Age and demanding repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries.
As well as being outstanding ensemble singers, many of the group are fine soloists in their own right, while several are music directors or academics of distinction. They enjoy making music of high quality directed by Martin Neary, a musician who has been associated with so much of the Consort's repertoire for all his artistic life.
