Venezuelan baritone GASPAR COLÓN MOLEIRO began his musical education with his grandfather, composer Moisés Moleiro, and his mother, the renowned pianist Carmencita Moleiro. He graduated as a clarinetist and opera singer from the Pedro Nolasco Colón Conservatory in Caracas and continued advanced operatic training with the Italian maestro Elio Malfatti.
In the year 2005 Colón Moleiro was presented the award for Best Voice and Best Performance of an Aria in the VII Alfredo Hollander National Opera Competition. In addition, he was selected to participate in master classes with Mirella Freni and Katia Ricciarelli. He has performed and developed a successful career in Latin America, Europe, and his native country, Venezuela. Among his credits, Colón Moleiro has performed the roles of Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Germont (La traviata), Alfio (Cavallería Rusticana), Marcello (La bohème), Admiral Colón (Los Martirios de Colón), Tonio (Pagliacci), Gianni Schicchi (Gianni Schicchi) and Scarpia (Tosca). As a soloist, his most acclaimed repertoire includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Fauré’s Requiem, William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, and Estévez’s Cantata Criolla. At numerous festivals and recitals, besides performing traditional opera repertoire, he also introduces Venezuelan and Latin American selections. Gaspar Colón Moleiro has performed with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra, the Venezuelan Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras, and the Caracas Municipal Orchestra, among many others. He has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Dante Ranieri, Alfredo Rugeles, Felipe Izacaray, and Ángelo Pagliucca, and has performed in various international theaters, including the Sinopoli Hall of Parco Della Musica (Rome, Italy), the Teatro degli Arcimboldi (Milan, Italy), the Maschio Angioino (Naples, Italy), Megaron Concert Hall (Athens, Greece), Medellín Municipal Theater (Colombia), Hall Federico García Lorca (Havana, Cuba), the Bolívar Theater (Quito, Ecuador), and the Teresa Carreño Theater and Cultural Complex in Venezuela.
