Taking over concerts at short notice, including a live radio and television broadcast, is not an easy task for even the most experienced conductors, particularly when the orchestra is a major ensemble such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in a prime venue such as Paris’ new l’Auditorium de la Maison de la Radio. The events that unfolded in December 2014 when the young Frenchman ADRIEN PERRUCHON was put in this situation left no doubt that we have seen the launch of a major conducting career. Since then, Perruchon worked with orchestras including Orchestre National de Montpellier, the Orchestre National de Lorraine, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, WDR Funkhausorchester, and Mozarteum Salzburg as well as Vienna Symphony for his debut at Vienna’s prestigious Musikverein and on tour throughout Germany with violinist Hilary Hahn.
Selected as Dudamel Conducting Fellow last season, Perruchon continues his work with the Los Angeles Philharmonic through- out this season. Other highlights this season include debuts with ensembles such as Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Orchestre de l’Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, So a Philharmonic, Bilkent Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover as well as further a eld Osaka Symphony and Tokyo Philharmonic. Perruchon continues his relationship with return performances to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He further appears on tour with Orchestre Poitou-Charentes and conducts the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris for a project at Le Centquatre in Paris.
In opera, Adrien Perruchon works closely with François-Xavier Roth at Oper Köln. Last season, he conducted performances of the new Benvenuto Cellini (Berlioz), La bohème (Puccini) and Don Giovanni (Mozart). This season Perruchon conducts performances of Oper Köln’s new L’heure espagnole / L’enfant et les sortilèges (Ravel) double bill as well as a revival performance of Benvenuto Cellini.
While pursuing an active career as an orchestral musician, Perruchon has collab- orated with such distinguished artists such as Daniel Barenboim at La Scala, Milan, and the late Claudio Abbado with the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna. As a conductor, he assisted Alain Altinoglu in Paris as well as at last summer’s Salzburg Festival production of Don Giovanni with the Vienna Philharmonic. Perruchon also worked with Esa-Pekka Salonen at the Festival d’Aix- en-Provence (Pélleas et Mélisande), Swedish Radio Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra London as well as Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Born in 1983, Adrien Perruchon started his musical training with the piano before moving on to bassoon and percussion later on in his career. Appointed Principal Timpanist with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France by Myung-Whun Chung in 2003, he also holds this position at the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
