About this Artist
A graduate of the Juilliard School, Las Vegas-born RACHAEL WILSON is currently a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper Ensemble, having previously been a member of the Opernstudio.
This season Wilson makes two major role debuts in Munich: Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Fatima in a new production of Oberon at the Munich Opera Festival.
Wilson made her Carnegie Hall debut as the mezzo soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, as well as her Philadelphia Kimmel Center debut in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle with Ken Noda and Cecile Licad. She has performed on numerous occasions in Alice Tully Hall: with Steve Blier’s New York Festival of Song; in the role of Disinganno in Handel’s Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno with Juilliard 415, conducted by William Christie; and in works such as Bach’s Magnificat.
An avid performer of song and chamber works, Wilson is inspired by collaborations with instrumentalists and recently attended the world-renowned chamber music program at the Marlboro Music Festival, directed by Richard Goode and Mitsuko Uchida. Wilson was reunited with her voice teacher, Edith Wiens, at the International Meistersinger Akademie, where she studied works by Gershwin and Schubert, along with operatic roles.
