Jeffrey Kahane leads the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday, August 29 and Tuesday, September 3 at 8 p.m. Hornist Richard Todd appears as soloist for Tuesday night's concert.

Tuesdays Are Better at the Bowl take place at the Patio, one hour prior to the Tuesday concerts; free to all ticket holders. The September 3 session features The Patina Group's Corporate Executive Chef Octavio Becerra and Executive Chef Bernhard Renk as they teach the secrets of preparing summer desserts. There will be dessert samples as well as a special champagne tasting.

Backbeat Live pre-concert events take place at the Patio, one hour prior to the Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday concerts; free to all ticket holders. The August 29 session features KCRW's Sandra Tsing Loh interviewing conductor Jeffrey Kahane.

On August 29, Jeffrey Kahane both conducts and plays piano as the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra joins him in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat, K. 482. The concert also includes a trio of dance favorites: Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances, Mozart's Six German Dances, and Kodály's Galánta Dances.

Then on September 3, the Chamber Orchestra's own principal horn, Richard Todd, is soloist in Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 1 as Jeffrey Kahane conducts the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. The concert also includes Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 4 and Schubert's Symphony No. 3.

Equally at home at the keyboard and on the podium, JEFFREY KAHANE has mastered diverse repertoire ranging from Bach and Mozart to Gershwin and John Adams. With a mixture of passion, intelligence and technique, he enchants audiences around the globe. Kahane made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1983 and is currently the music director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony. He is also the Artistic Director of the newly founded Green Music Festival in Sonoma County. Kahane last appeared at the Hollywood Bowl in 2001.

Internationally renowned concert, jazz, and recording artist, RICHARD TODD has earned acclaim as one of the finest horn soloists today. From his position as principal horn with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Santa Barbara Symphony, Mr. Todd is the leader in a new generation of horn artists. Gold medal winner of the 1980 Concours Internationale Toulon, he is a Pro Musicis International Foundation Award winner and is continually expanding the boundaries of the horn world.

The LOS ANGELES CHAMBER ORCHESTRA marks its 35th season in 2002-2003 with Music Beyond Words. The 40-member ensemble has grown and flourished under the batons of its four previous music directors: Sir Neville Marriner (1969-1978), Gerard Schwarz (1978-1986), Iona Brown (1987-1992), and Christof Perick (1992-1995). Los Angeles native Jeffrey Kahane was named as the fifth Music Director of the Orchestra in June, 1996. The Orchestra maintains its international reputation through its annual home season, touring, radio broadcasts, 28 recordings, and professional collaborations with other arts and community organizations. In addition, the Chamber Orchestra is committed to the commissioning and performance of new works as an essential component to its mission, under the leadership of composer-in-residence Pierre Jalbert.
