WHAT: One of the most respected singers to emerge on the Brazilian music scene, Maria Rita will give a special intimate performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Fri. Feb. 14th, at 8 p.m., featuring her hits as well as timeless classics her mother, renowned singer Elis Regina, made famous. This concert concludes Maria Rita’s “Voice & Piano” tour, which marks her first return to the U.S. stage in eight years.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Oscar Castro-Neves who was originally scheduled to perform with Maria Rita.
Maria Rita’s latest album, Redescobrir Ao Vivo, a live recording and celebration of her mother’s legacy, won a 2013 Latin Grammy for the Best Album of Brazilian Popular Music.
