GILBERTO SANTA ROSA HEADLINES JAZZ SERIES PROGRAM; SHEILA E. OPENS

WHAT:        Gilberto Santa Rosa, “The Gentleman of Salsa,” and multifaceted percussionist Sheila E., will perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, July 23, at 8 PM.

This concert is part of Gustavo Dudamel’s signature festival, Americas and Americans, which features music from both sides of the hemisphere. Americas & Americans, first presented during Dudamel’s inaugural 2009/10 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall and revived at the Bowl in 2012, exemplifies his vision of one American culture across continents. Highlights of the festival include a performance by Rubén Blades with Dudamel and the LA Phil (July 29); an evening of cinematic music, “Noche De Cine,” celebrating film composers from North and South America including Gustavo Santaolalla (Babel, Amores perros, The Motorcycle Diaries) and a suite from Dudamel’s own score to Libertador (July 31); and a weekend program with Latin pop pioneer Gloria Estefan, performing her hits and classics from the Cuban and American songbooks (July 25 & 26).

Single tickets for the 2014 Hollywood Bowl season go on sale Sunday, May 4 at 10 AM. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Hollywood Bowl box office. Five hundred wristbands will be distributed, starting at 8 AM. The Hollywood Bowl parking lot will open at 7 AM. The box office hours are 10 AM to 6 PM through May 11. The box office is closed on Monday, May 12. Beginning May 13, summer hours are Tuesday – Sunday, 12 PM to 6 PM.
