  • 2014 Deck The Hall Holiday Concerts to Include Performances by The Manhattan Transfer, Chanticleer, The Klezmatics, Arturo Sandoval, and New Year’s Eve with Pink Martini

     

    Artist Additions to the 14/15 Subscription Season Include Martha Argerich (piano), Natalie Dessay (soprano), Miah Persson (soprano), and Stéphanie-Marie Degand (violin)

    WHAT:        The Los Angeles Philharmonic announces programming updates to the 2014/15 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

    The 2014 Deck the Hall holiday concerts, just added, will include The Manhattan Transfer Christmas Show (Dec. 16), A Chanticleer Christmas (Dec. 18), Holiday Organ Spectacular (Dec. 19), Holiday Sing-Along (Dec. 20), The Klezmatics’ Happy Joyous Hanukkah (Dec. 22), Arturo Sandoval and his L.A. All-Star Big Band Christmas (Dec. 23), and New Year’s Eve with Pink Martini (Dec. 31).

    Additional program updates include: pianist Martha Argerich replacing Piotr Anderszewski February 12, 14 and 15, 2015 performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto; soprano Natalie Dessay and violinist Stéphanie-Marie Degand performing April 10-12, 2015 in a program of Vivaldi and Handel; soprano Miah Persson performing December 19-21, 2014 on an all-Mozart program; and Illapu and Ana Tijoux joining as special guests for Gracias a la Vida: The Rebel Spirit of Violeta Parra on April 25, 2015.

    Walt Disney Concert Hall’s unique and majestic organ, aptly nicknamed the “French fries,” celebrates its 10th birthday with a concert that utilizes all 6,134 metal and wooden pipes.

    Ten-time Grammy-winner Arturo Sandoval and his band celebrate with Christmas tunes in styles ranging from swinging big band and sizzling Latin rhythms to be-bop and ballads.

    Known as the most important singer-songwriter-storyteller in the history of Chile, Violeta Parra sang about struggle, defiance and triumph. Her songs were the basis for Chile's "New Song" movement, which spread throughout Latin America and beyond. Chile’s leading artists pay tribute to the rebel legend.
