WHAT:       Emmy and Tony award winner and Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductee Kristin Chenoweth will be inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame at this year’s Opening Night at the Hollywood BowlSaturday, June 21, at 8 pm. Chenoweth first appeared at the Hollywood Bowl for the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular performances in 2001. She later graced the stage in 2007 to present to and perform with that year’s Hall of Fame inductee Plácido Domingo. And last year, she had her first solo concert at the Bowl in a critically-acclaimed Weekend Spectaculars program.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. Chenoweth is the 43rd Hall of Fame inductee, joining other luminaries such as John Williams, Garth Brooks, Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Plácido Domingo, Liza Minnelli, B.B. King, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and John Legend. Drawn from the diverse arena of musical entertainment, including classical, pop, jazz, musical theater, and film composition, new Hall of Fame honorees receive their tributes as part of the Bowl’s annual opening night celebration. Proceeds from the evening benefit the LA Phil and its education programs, which reach more than 120,000 children, teachers and adults every year.

Following Chenoweth’s induction, she will perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Thomas Wilkins. Other inductees and special guests are to be announced.

Chenoweth effortlessly transitions between stage, television, film and an accomplished singing career with the captivating grace that only she can project. She recently wrapped production on the Universal film The Boy Next Door, alongside Jennifer Lopez, and will be seen in Rio 2 this April. In addition to her on-screen performances, Chenoweth continues to tour, performing songs from her latest album Some Lessons Learned, as well as an array of her most memorable songs and Broadway show tunes, including music from Wicked, Promises Promises and “Glee.” In May, she will return to the famed Carnegie Hall for the first time since her sold-out solo debut in 2004. In July, she will perform “An Evening With…” show at London’s grade one listed and highly prestigious concert hall the Royal Albert Hall.

Established in 2000, the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame identifies and pays tribute to artists whose unique achievements embody the spirit of the world-renowned Hollywood Bowl. The Hall of Fame is now part of an exhibit on the main floor of the Hollywood Bowl Museum that includes photos and film of inductees over the years. The “Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame” was conceived on behalf of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association by Wayne Baruch and Charles F. Gayton, who have created and produced all of the Hall of Fame opening concerts.
