JULY 4TH FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR
Full Season Announcement to Come in February 2017
Los Angeles, CA (November 16, 2016) - The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced today the first details of the 2017 Hollywood Bowl summer season, with the entire season to be announced in February 2017.
Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix are set for the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, with three performances, July 2, 3 and 4. Joining the multi-platinum-selling recording artists is the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Principal Conductor Thomas Wilkins. Considered one of Southern California's top Independence Day pyrotechnic displays, the annual July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Bowl has become a local family tradition. Tickets for children ages 12 and under are half price.
In just five years, Pentatonix have sold more than 3.5 million albums in the U.S. alone. They have won two Grammy Awards and performed for hundreds of thousands of fans at their sold-out shows across the globe. Their YouTube channel boasts more than 11 million subscribers, yielding nearly 2 billion video views, and their 2015 self-titled album has been certified gold after debuting #1 on Billboard's Top 200. All seven Pentatonix album releases have debuted in the chart's Top 10. In 2015 the group released their first tour documentary - On My Way Home - and appeared in the feature film Pitch Perfect 2.
On October 21st, Pentatonix released their third holiday album - A Pentatonix Christmas - which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. The album includes the group's arrangement of the Leonard Cohen classic, "Hallelujah," which debuted at #6 on Billboard's Top Digital Songs Chart. The music video received more than 20 million views in its first week. A Pentatonix Christmas follows 2014's That's Christmas To Me, which has been certified 2x platinum and includes the quintet's Grammy-winning arrangement for "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy." Pentatonix are currently on the final leg of their 2016 World Tour and are set to host their first holiday network special, A Pentatonix Christmas Special, on NBC December 14th at 8:00 PM ET.
Dates for other popular annual concerts at the Hollywood Bowl have also been set, including: Opening Night (June 17), Sing-A-Long Sound of Music (June 24), Smooth Summer Jazz (August 20), and Movie Night (September 3).
With the Hollywood Bowl serving as the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for more than 90 years, the 2017 season continues the tradition of offering classical concerts every Tuesday and Thursday night, with star-studded programming.
