WHAT:
Following LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen’s nine-day, multi-part exploration of works by Stravinsky with the orchestra, he turns his attention to a program that includes late Mozart and early Beethoven, at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Thursday through Sunday, May 2 – 5. The four performances feature long-time LA Phil collaborator Emanuel Ax playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat, K. 482, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1. Sharing the Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday program is the world premiere of Louis Andriessen’s Centennial-commissioned The only one, made possible with generous support from MaddocksBrown Fund for New Music, and featuring vocalist Nora Fischer.
