    Christoph von Dohnányi, music director laureate of The Cleveland Orchestra, makes his Los Angeles Philharmonic debut on Thursday, February 5 at 8 p.m.; Friday, February 6 at 11 a.m.; Saturday, February 7 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, February 8, at 2 p.m. Dohnányi leads the Philharmonic in a program featuring classics of the repertoire: Mozart's Symphony No. 25 in G minor, K. 183; Richard Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks; and Schumann's Symphony No. 2.

    Upbeat Live pre-concert events take place one hour prior to each concert in BP Hall (except Sunday) at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and are free to all ticket holders. (Sunday's Upbeat Live will take place on the Concert Hall stage.)

    With The Cleveland Orchestra, Dohnányi recorded the complete symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann; selected symphonies by Bruckner, Dvorák, Mahler, Mozart, Schubert and Tchaikovsky; works by Adams, Bartók, Berlioz, Birtwistle, Busoni, Ives, Ravel, Richard Strauss, Varèse and Webern; and Wagner's operas Das Rheingold and Die Walküre. In December 2001, The Cleveland Orchestra released the Christoph von Dohnányi Compact Disc Edition, a 10-CD retrospective featuring live performances with The Cleveland Orchestra from 1984 through 2001.

    CHRISTOPH VON DOHNÁNYI is recognized as one of the world's pre-eminent conductors. In addition to guest conducting engagements with the major opera houses and orchestras of Europe and North America, since 1984, Dohnányi held the post of music director of The Cleveland Orchestra beginning in 1984 (he completed his tenure in 2002); he led the orchestra in more than 1000 concerts, 15 international tours, 24 premieres, and 109 recorded works. In 2002/2003, he became conductor laureate for The Cleveland Orchestra. In 1997, Dohnányi became principal conductor of London's Philharmonia Orchestra, having served the orchestra as principal guest conductor since 1994. Dohnányi's performances mark his conducting debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

When available, choral bench seats ($15), will be released for sale to selected Philharmonic, Colburn Celebrity Recital, and Baroque Variations performances beginning at noon on the Tuesday of the second week prior to the concert. A limited number of $10 rush tickets for seniors and full time students may be available at the Walt Disney Concert Hall box office two hours prior to the performance. Valid identification is required; one ticket per person; cash only. Groups of 12 or more may be eligible for special discounts for selected concerts and seating areas.
