The Hollywood Bowl travels back in time to the height of the pop music era with the nostalgic program featuring a Swedish tribute band performing their acclaimed program ABBA: The Music on Monday, July 5, at 8 p.m. The Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond opens the show with more 70's classics.

ABBA The Music presents a look and sound that is barely distinguishable from the ABBA of three decades ago. Major hits to be performed include "Mamma Mia," "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "Thank You for the Music," "Waterloo," and many more, promising a fun-filled blast from the past not to be missed.

Highly acclaimed tribute band Super Diamond kicks off the evening with their energetic renditions of Neil Diamond favorites including "Holly Holy," "Forever in Blue Jeans," "Sweet Caroline," "America," and more.

ABBA: THE MUSIC recreates ABBA's musical story for audiences around the globe. The Music starts with the group's formation in the late 1960s and takes the audience on a two-hour tour through ABBA's greatest hits. ABBA The Music began in 1996, when Swedish singers Katja Nord and Camilla Dahlin started performing together in clubs. The duo soon capitalized on their natural resemblance to the original ABBA front women, making copies of the famous ABBA costumes and adding a 10-piece band to re-create the band's sound. Since then, they have toured extensively in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. One of the most notable pop groups of the '70s, ABBA still sells nearly two million records per year worldwide. Formed in 1969, the Swedish quartet of Bjørn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderssen, Agnetha Fältskog, and Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad surprised Europe in 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest with their first major single, "Waterloo." Through 1981, ABBA scored international hits with "Mama Mia," "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "Thank You for the Music," and many more.

Hailing from San Francisco, SUPER DIAMOND is one of the most popular live shows at clubs and ballrooms throughout the United States. The band has consistently performed sell-out and near-capacity shows at venues such as the House of Blues in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Orleans, the Fillmore and Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco, the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, the Fillmore in Denver, the Showbox Theater in Seattle, 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. and the Irving Plaza in New York. The band has long since transcended the label of "tribute band" by immersing themselves in Neil Diamond's repertoire and delivering a high-octane show of unforgettable classics such as "Holy Holly," "Forever in Blue Jeans" and many others. Super Diamond has appeared on national television (Viva Variety, CNN. VH1's Behind the Music on Neil Diamond, Today, and Fox News) and have been the subject of feature articles in major newspapers and magazines such as the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and Spin Magazine. Super Diamond front man "The Surreal Neil," Randy Cordero, astonishes audiences with his live impersonation of the "real Neil." Randy created the charismatic character in 1989 when he discovered he had the ability to capture not only Diamond's voice, but also his mannerisms and performance style. A select group of top musicians back him up to recreate the Neil Diamond concert experience.

One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000, the HOLLYWOOD BOWL has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922, and in 1991 gave its name to the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, a resident ensemble that has filled a special niche in the musical life of Southern California. The 2004 season introduces audiences to a revitalized Hollywood Bowl, featuring a newly-constructed shell and stage and the addition of four stadium screens enhancing stage views in the venue. To this day, $1 buys a seat at the top of the Bowl for many of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's concerts. While the Bowl is best known for its sizzling summer nights, during the day California's youngest patrons enjoy "SummerSounds: Music for Kids at the Hollywood Bowl," the Southland's most popular summer arts festival for children, now in its 35th season. Attendance figures over the past several decades have soared: I n 1980 the Bowl first topped the half-million mark, and last summer close to one million admissions were recorded. It is no wonder that the Bowl's summer music festivals have become as much a part of a Southern California summer as beaches and barbecues, the Dodgers, and Disneyland.
