Jump 'n' Jive band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic for an evening of swingin' jazz at the Hollywood Bowl with Swing! Swing! Swing!, on Friday and Saturday, August 6 and 7, at 8:30 p.m. The first half of the program features Jeff Tyzik conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic as they perform classic swing tunes of the '40s. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy joins the Philharmonic in the second half, performing hits of contemporary swing. The program also features the Los Angeles-based dance group The Hollywood Hornets, whose vintage style and dance brings back the swing era.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy appears in conjunction with the August 3 release of their eighth album, the CD/DVD combo Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Live. The group performs their hottest hits, including Jumpin' Jack, King of Swing, Go Daddy-O, and Mr. Pinstripe Suit. The Philharmonic joins the seven-member band in renditions of Zig Zagitty Woop Woop, You Know You're Wrong, and Big Time Operator.

After blues guitar legend Albert Collins autographed bandleader Scotty Morris' poster with "To Scotty, the BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY," the band's name was set. The group's formation in 1989 kicked off the hugely popular swing revival in the mid-'90s. After touring relentlessly from 1994 through 2001, the group decided to record Save My Soul, after being inspired by a stop in New Orleans. The album is a bluesy tribute to both New Orleans and American music.

JEFF TYZIK has earned a reputation as one of America's foremost pops conductors. The 2003-2004 season marks his tenth anniversary as Principal Pops Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Tyzik's recent guest-conducting schedule has included engagements with America's top orchestras including the Detroit Symphony, the Saint Louis Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Boston Pops and the Cincinnati Pops. He is also a frequent guest of Canadian orchestras including those of Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg. He made his debut with the Toronto Symphony in 2002/2003 and has recently been named Principal Pops Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony. Tyzik makes his Hollywood Bowl debut in these concerts.
