About this Performance

Separately, Colombia's Bomba Estéreo and Venezuela's Rawayana are two of the biggest bands in Latin alternative music. Together, they're ASTROPICAL, a mind-expanding, dancefloor-filling psychedelic party band committed to the idea of celebrating pan-Latin culture—a mixture of the tropical Caribbean and the essences of their home countries, as they put it. Bomba Estéreo's electro-cumbia has made them four-time Grammy nominees and legends of their scene; "musically, I feel like I'm the son of Bomba Estéreo," says Rawayana singer Beto Montenegro. The multicolored tropical pop of his band's 2023 album ¿Quién Trae Las Cornetas? won the Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album Grammy.

Together as ASTROPICAL, they blend everything from shimmering Afrobeats and electronica with the music of Latin America, and they play it with a joyful exuberance and soulful reflection. Performing music from their self-titled debut, as well as reimagined versions of songs from both band's catalogs, they headline a night devoted to Latin alternative music and culture.
