About this Performance

Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers takes the spotlight for a major new concerto by Mexico’s Arturo Márquez, inspired by the lively Spanish dance that gives it its name. Irresistibly evocative and romantic, it ranges from soaring lyricism to toe-tapping Latin rhythms. Dudamel tops the evening with the heart-on-sleeve emotion of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

Tonight’s concert has been underwritten in loving memory of Anita Hirsh.
This performance is generously supported in part by the Kohl Virtuoso Violin Fund.
