GLOBAL TELEVISION SENSATION “TASKMASTER” BRINGS ITS DELIGHTFULLY ABSURD LIVE SHOW “TASKMASTER LIVE” TO THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL WITH HOSTS GREG DAVIES AND ALEX HORNE

Posted on

LOS ANGELES (October 5, 2026) -- Following a US live tour that sold out in just 13 minutes, the LA Phil today announced that the global television juggernaut “Taskmaster” will bring its delightfully absurd brand of comedy to the Hollywood Bowl for one night only on Tuesday, June 22, 2027. This live version of the British television phenomenon, “Taskmaster Live On Stage,” features the almighty Taskmaster, Greg Davies, and the show’s creator and Davies’s long-suffering sidekick, Alex Horne as hosts, alongside yet-to-be-revealed celebrity guest contestants, as well as audience members willing to put their ingenuity to the test and dignity on the line.

The Hollywood Bowl engagement will take place just a few weeks after “Taskmaster Live On Stage” performs at Manchester’s AO Arena on Wednesday, May 26, 2027.

In “Taskmaster Live On Stage,” celebrity guests and select audience members will have a chance to compete for eternal glory. Brand-new tasks devised by Horne will turn seemingly simple challenges into wildly unpredictable comedy, as contestants search for clever solutions and questionable loopholes under the pressure of a live audience. Davies will deliver his merciless verdicts on their successes and failures, awarding points and ultimately crowning the evening’s champion.

Alex Horne, the show’s creator and Taskmaster’s Assistant said: "This is one of the maddest moments of my life. For me the Hollywood Bowl means Monty Python and the Manchester Arena means Oasis. Now it's our turn?! Luckily I'm with my biggest friend Greg so I'm going to be so brave."

Greg Davies, The Taskmaster said: “I am thrilled that my tiny assistant and I are to bring “Taskmaster” to such illustrious venues. Whilst on one hand it feels daunting, on the other it feels like destiny. Rest assured my judgements will remain even handed and every effort will be made for everyone to have a good time, except Alex.”

““Taskmaster” has long been one of my favorite shows… In addition to being silly and enchanting, “Taskmaster” is breathtakingly novel: I’m amazed by its capacity to remain unpredictable to both its viewers and its participants… [its] among the best of the best.

  • Margaret Lyons, The New York Times

“Taskmaster Live On Stage” had its US premiere earlier this year with sold-out engagements in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and New York. Celebrity guests included John Oliver, Seth Meyers, Lisa Gilroy and Jason Mantzoukas. The Boston Globe hailed the show as “a sensation in the US… unpredictable, and always funny,” while Parade called it “tremendous” and USA Today called it, “absolutely hilarious.”

“Taskmaster” has built a devoted American following through YouTube, where its official channel has amassed more than 1.7 billion views worldwide and attracted more than 2.3 million subscribers. North American viewership has increased 85% year over year, with more than 215 million views from the region so far in 2026.

The show’s growing stateside popularity has brought Davies and Horne to “Late Night with Seth Meyers” for multiple appearances. Their first appearance became the program’s second most-streamed interview online, behind only Meyers’s interview with Barack Obama. More fans than ever can watch “Taskmaster” in the US as the show has also been made available to stream on Hulu in the US as of September 2026.

Tickets will be released for pre-sale exclusively to the “Taskmaster” mailing list on October 14, with general sale tickets available on Friday, October 16, 2026. Sign up to the mailing list for pre-sale access here. Tickets for this concert go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 16, and will be available online at hollywoodbowl.com, via phone at 323 850 2000, or in-person at the Hollywood Bowl Box Office. “One of the planet’s most consistently funny TV shows.”

  • William Hughes, AV Club

““Taskmaster” has seen its popularity surge in recent years, going from a cult hit in the UK to a genuine global sensation… What began as a niche British panel show, “Taskmaster” has evolved into one of the most consistently inventive comedy formats in television.”

  • Grace Leeder, Parade

THE 10 SHOWS YOU NEED TO SEE – 2025
“If you’ve never heard of this outrageously hilarious British comedy panel show, you likely will soon.”

  • Kelly Lawler, USA Today

THE 19 BEST TV SHOWS OF 2025

“Find out why this is the show all the most discerning comedy fans in your life are obsessed with: You’ve never seen so many smart performers acting so silly.”

  • Tara Araino, Vanity Fair

“Every episode of the British game show “Taskmaster” is a new experiment in reading comprehension, creative thinking, and wondering… Its great Television… Over ten years, “Taskmaster” has gathered a rabidly adoring fan base in the U.K., where it’s a cornerstone of the comedy-panel-show circuit and spawned a cottage industry of podcasts and international versions. Its joys are many: the discovery of new comedians, the chemistry among the cast members, the outlandishness of the tasks themselves, and the lovingly prickly dom-sub dynamic between Davies and Horne in studio. Each season feels like a highly choreographed descent into comedic madness, especially this year’s two offerings”

  • Rozana Hadidi, Vulture

“Over the past few years, the British comedy game series “Taskmaster” has risen from very specific Anglophile favorite to what’s arguably the internet’s favorite casual watch, a weekly dose of delightfully bonkers mayhem that has all the warmth of “The Great British Bake-Off” mixed with the savage wit of “Would I Lie to You?” The show has proved so infectious among its fans that we’re often dying to get other people into it, sharing clips and doing our best to turn as many people as possible on to its zaniness.”

  • Matthew Jackson, Vulture

“a word of mouth hit… The “Taskmaster” setup, I discovered, is special… With reinvention baked right into the concept—new participants each season, new tasks each episode—it stays fresh and compelling far longer than the average British comedy game show.”

  • David Sims, The Atlantic

““Taskmaster” is unlike anything American audiences have seen in recent memory”

  • Andrew Husband, Uproxx

“You need to learn about the latest British show making its way across the pond to the United States. That Anglophile sensation is "Taskmaster," a British comedy panel show in which five comedians compete in silly "tasks" and are then given arbitrary points by another comedian. It's sort of like if a bunch of kids set up ridiculous games in their backyard, graded each other, filmed it and broadcast it to millions around the world on YouTube. And somehow, all that wackiness has coalesced into a superb and consistently funny TV show… It's via YouTube where the series, which began in the United Kingdom in 2015, has thrived and developed an international following. That includes a dedicated U.S. fanbase that has shown up ecstatically for a limited live show tour this January… Headed by the series' eponymous Taskmaster Greg Davies and creator/"Taskmaster's assistant" Alex Horne, the sold-out live shows confirm just how popular "Taskmaster" has become in the United States. Plus, they've been absolutely hilarious.”

  • Kelly Lawler, USA Today

“Imagine “The Great British Bake Off” with fangs. That’s the appeal of “Taskmaster,” a truly singular British comedy competition series”

  • Amy Nicholson, Los Angeles Times

““Taskmaster” has risen from a strange little British comedy show to becoming a global cult phenomenon”

  • Jeremy Fuster, The Wrap

“One of the most consistently entertaining comedy game shows on air these days”

  • Clare Martin, Paste Magazine

“Since its premiere in 2025, “Taskmaster” has succeeded through its delightfully silly premise that makes for the perfect comfort watch for anyone in need of a hearty laugh”

  • Ryan O’Rourke, Collider

“The British comedy competition “Taskmaster” is past its 20th series now (it’s a British show, so we’re going to respect their term for “season”), and in that time, it’s become something of a sensation in the US… The tasks are never shy of absurd (“Throw a pea as far as you can into a meadow, then go find the pea,” for instance), but setting a group of comedians on them means the results are very unpredictable, and always funny.”

  • Lisa Weidenfeld, Boston Globe

“The brilliance of the show comes from watching hilarious people tackle bonkers tasks in a variety of baffling ways… It remains one of my absolute favorite TV shows and while some of my friends initially passed it off as "just another celebrity panel show," I'm happy to report that those same people are now firm fans and are just as keen to talk to me about which contestant is their favorite as I am”

  • Andrew Lanxon, CNET

““Taskmaster” has leaned into its growing stateside fandom by airing its series premieres live in the U.S. and casting Jason Mantzoukas on the show, but these shows are on a larger scale. It appears there is an appetite for this quirky British show in America... The reception has been so tremendous. The energy in the rooms is amazing.”

  • Grace Leeder, Parade

“What do you call a panel show, that’s not really a panel show? One where the contestants are called “the cast”, who have narrative arcs over the 10 episodes but it’s not a sitcom? Where it’s comedians but they don’t perform their comedy? It’s absurd but mundane? It’s a mainstream, primetime, multi-award winning programme and the format has been exported to 12 countries, yet it still feels like a secret cult underground show? You call it “Taskmaster”… To say it’s a TV juggernaut is actually an understatement.”

  • Josh Jones, Ralph Magazine

“[The show’s] simple premise has achieved immense popularity… This, in all of its weirdness, is the magic of Taskmaster.”

  • Chris Karnadi, The Atlantic

“Effortlessly charming… The show exists in its own kind of universe… “Taskmaster” has become beloved the world over.”

  • Maggie Boccella, Collider

“you're going to need to tune in... Prepare yourselves for the giggle of a lifetime… and if you haven't yet set your eyes upon this feast of comedy, you are in for a treat.”

  • Lauren Piester, E!

“The show is absurd, the tasks are pointless, and currently, its YouTube channel is buttressing a significant portion of my emotional well-being… Watching “Taskmaster” feels like watching your funniest friends do stupid shit outside a bar after several beers — ridiculous, endearing, and sometimes genuinely impressive.”

  • Magdeleine Aggeler, The Cut

“there is perhaps no better show for American audiences to discover right now…Every episode is funny and silly and exciting.”

  • Lea Palmieri, The Decider

‘“Taskmaster” [is] the hit British series that gained an audience of comedy-loving Americans during the pandemic thanks to its availability on YouTube… expect the unexpected.”

  • Kevin Slane, The Boston Globe

“The early episodes in a new ‘Taskmaster” season can be thrilling for a variety of reasons. Of course, there’s the excitement of just getting a new “Taskmaster” season; even though the show generally releases two a year, any wait can feel too long.”

  • Tara Araino, Cracked

‘“Taskmaster” has long been the best television programme most Americas don’t know about… deliriously madcap… this is a show that is so much more than you can expect in all the best ways.”

  • Michael Walsh, Nerdist

“Greg Davies and Alex Horne have made the UK's “Taskmaster” into an addictive cultural phenomenon.”

  • Brittany Frederick, CBR
