About this Performance
Diana Damrau, one of today’s most sought-after interpreters of song, returns to the Hollywood Bowl to perform show-stopping highlights from more than a century of Viennese opera and operetta with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil. “The qualities that make her such a winning recitalist—the wit, the confiding tenderness, the sensitivity to the text—are all here in full” (Gramophone) on this program of romantic works by Mozart, Lehár, Lincke, and more.
Dudamel then leads the LA Phil in Richard Strauss’ waltzing Der Rosenkavalier Suite, which revels in the opulence and elegance of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Please note that Jonas Kaufmann, who was previously scheduled to perform, has withdrawn from his LA Phil engagement due to an illness.
This performance is generously supported by the Lloyd E. Rigler – Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation.
