About this Performance
When King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard stopped by the Hollywood Bowl in 2023, they made themselves at home, playing a three-hour marathon set that still only scraped the surface of what the super-versatile Australian band can do. One of the most innovative, important, and productive bands in their home country, they move fluidly through psych, krautrock, thrash, prog, folk, experimental synth, jam band—any kind of wild, exploratory music.
Two years after that last show, they’ve shape-shifted yet again, this time joining forces with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and conductor Sarah Hicks, performing music from their new album Phantom Island. Plus, they’ll take an orchestral stroll through their remarkably diverse discography, which at the time of writing measures 26 albums in under 15 years (though at their rate, there’s a chance two more have come out since you’ve been reading this). As any member of their fervent fanbase will tell you, a trip into The Gizzverse is never to be missed—especially when the orchestra is involved.
