Jimmy Cobb

About this Artist

Born in Washington, D.C. in 1929 and now in his sixth decade as a jazz artist, the consummate jazz drummer recorded and toured in the 1950s with countless jazz legends — Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Pearl Bailey, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley, Sarah Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, and many others. He worked with Miles Davis from 1957 to 1963, and was featured on some of Davis’ greatest recordings, including Kind of Blue, Porgy and Bess, Sketches of Spain, and Some Day My Prince Will Come. Cobb has continued to perform, record, and teach. He is currently on a world tour with his So What Band, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Kind of Blue.
