About this Artist

Daniel Corral is a composer and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Eagle River, Alaska. Now living in Los Angeles, his unique voice finds outlet in accordion orchestras, puppet operas, handmade music boxes, microtonal electronic, sound installations, chamber music, and inter-disciplinary collaborations.

 

Corral’s music has been commissioned and presented by venues such as REDCAT, Reykjavik Harpa Concert Hall, HERE Arts Center, Miami Light Project, Operadagen Rotterdam, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Joe’s Pub NYC, The Hammer Museum, MoCA, USC School of Music, The Center for New Music, CSUN, Pianospheres Series, Automata, Machine Project, SASSAS, the wulf., Pasadena All Saints Choir, The Santa Monica GLOW Festival, and the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts.

 

Corral is the primary composer for Timur and the Dime Museum, who recently gave the New York premiere of his piece Collapse. He has also worked with artists such as Anne LeBaron, Vicki Ray, Wild Up, Opera Povera, Yakima Chamber Symphony, The Industry, LA Electric 8, California EAR Unit, Formalist String Quartet, Isaura String Quartet, Kairos String Quartet, Pasadena All Saints Choir, Cudamani, and Sojourn Theatre.

 

Residencies include APPEX, Bali; Marin Headlands Center for the Arts; and I-Park Foundation. He received an MFA from Calarts, where he studied with James Tenney and Anne LeBaron; and a BM from UPS. He recently released his first solo CD, Diamond Pulses, on Orenda Records.
