About this Artist
Juilliard graduate and member of New York City Opera since 2000, baritone MARCUS DeLOACH has performed roles in La bohème, Don Giovanni, The Mikado, Lilith, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly and Carmen. In subsequent seasons he has sung the roles Schaunard, Morales, Slim in Of Mice and Men, and Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro. He has since performed with the Boston Lyric Opera, Nashville Opera Association, Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, and Santa Barbara Grand Opera.
A strong advocate of contemporary music, Mr. DeLoach has recorded Eli Siegmeister's opera The Lady of the Lake with Gerard Schwarz and the Seattle Symphony (Naxos label) and has created principal roles in the world premiers of Deborah Drattell's Lilith and Marina: A Captive Spirit.
The Opera Index, Albanese-Puccini, Rosa Ponselle, Liederkranz and George London foundations, Richard Gaddes Fund Grant, the Young Concert Artists International, Wigmore Hall International Song Competition, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and the Metropolitan Opera National Council have all honored Mr. DeLoach for his outstanding achievements and artistry.
Upcoming engagements include Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos with Des Moines Metro Opera, the role of Satyr/Cytheron in Rameau's Platée, and the Ballad Singer in Paul Bunyan with Central City Opera.
