Now an admired interpreter of Bel Canto and lyric heroines, Natalie Dessay originally made her reputation with showpiece coloratura roles such as Königin der Nacht, Lakmé, Zerbinetta, Olympia.She sings her first Lucia in Chicago, and La Sonnambula at the Metropolitan Opera of New York. She is Ophélie (Hamlet) at the Capitole of Toulouse, at the Covent Garden and at the Liceu, and again Lucia di Lammermoor at the Paris National Opera and at the Metropolitan Opera of New York, with a huge success.Natalie Dessay interprets for the first time the title-role of Manon, in Geneva and in Barcelone.After being Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera and Marie (La Fille du Régiment) in an unforgettable production in London, in Vienna, in New York, she sings her first Mélisande at the Theater an der Wien, then La Traviata in Santa Fe, in Japan with the Teatro Regio di Torino, in Aix-en-Provence, at the Wiener Staatsoper and at the Metropolitan Opera of New York.She sings again Marie (La Fille du Régiment) at the Paris National Opera and she is Manon at the Capitole of Toulouse.More recently, Natalie Dessay interprets some extracts of the role of Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare) during an international tour with Le Concert d’Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm.She produces her regularly in Recital with Philippe Cassard with programs of Lieder and Mélodies in France and abroad. Thanks to this collaboration, a CD was released : “Clair de Lune”. She also shares the stage with Laurent Naouri and Maciej Pikulski with a Recital program dedicated to the French Mélodies.Natalie Dessay is awarded Kammersängerin by the Wiener Staatsoper.
