GREGORY DETURCK is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Julian Martin and Thomas Schumacher, respectively. As the winner of the 2010 William Petschek Award, he gave his formal debut recital at Alice Tully Hall this past May. Other recent solo recitals include January 2011 appearances at Carnegie Hall as part of Liszt Discovery Day, and the Deutsch-Amerikanische Institute as part of the Heidelberger Klavierwoche. In August of 2010, he served as a recitalist and adjunct faculty at the Gijon International Piano Festival. Additionally, Gregory recently appeared in chamber recitals at Weill Recital Hall, the Niemeyer Center, the Tanglewood Festival, West Cork Chamber Music Festival, the Phillips Collection Series, the Swiss Embassy in Washington DC, and on WFMT Chicago on the Dame Myra Hess Series. He has won several prizes on the international piano competition circuit, including the Raeburn Prize for Artist of Special Promise at the 2006 Honens Competition in Calgary. Gregory has appeared as a soloist with the Minnesota Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; most recent appearances include Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall with the International Festival Orchestra Beijing, and Thomas Ades’ Concerto Conciso with Ensemble ACJW in Zankel Hall with the composer as conductor. Last June, he completed a two-year residency as a Fellow of the Academy (a program of Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute). Upcoming engagements include a week of contemporary music concerts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Gregory currently lives in Rochester, NY where his is finishing his DMA at the Eastman School of Music.
