About this Artist
SCOTT DUNN is the Associate Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Highlights of his recent conducting schedule include the world premiere in New York of Mohammed Fairouz’ opera Sumeida’s Song, premieres for American Opera projects and New York City Opera, and extensive work with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
This fall, his upcoming conducting engagements include a St. Petersburg, Russia concert of three major works by Vernon Duke (Dedicaces for orchestra, piano solo, and soprano; Epitaph for Diaghilev; and The End of St. Petersburg oratorio for orchestra, chorus, and soloists), and Phillip Glass’ Another Look at Harmony Part IV for Jacaranda concerts in L.A.
Also a distinguished pianist, Dunn studied with Byron Janis and made his Carnegie Hall debut playing his own orchestration of the ‘lost’ Vernon Duke piano concerto. He has appeared worldwide and this past season made multiple appearances in L.A., N.Y., and Europe. He records regularly for Naxos – which this month releases his world-premiere recording of the Alfano Violin Sonata and Quintet. Also soon to be released are his published orchestrations of Schoenberg’s Cabaret Songs for soprano and chamber orchestra by Belmont and Universal Editions.
