NATHAN EAST, whose career spans more than three decades, remains one of the world’s most sought-after musicians. His Grammy-winning steady groove and bass lines have provided the backdrop for a variety of mainstream Pop/Rock/R&B artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, George Harrison, Anita Baker, Ray Charles, Andrea Bocelli, and Lionel Richie, to name a few. Nathan has also earned a reputation as one of the top contemporary jazz bassists for his collaborations with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, Michael Bublé, Natalie Cole, George Benson, Patti Austin, and his own Fourplay (quartet) co-founded with Bob James, Harvey Mason & Lee Ritenour/Larry Carlton/Chuck Loeb. He co-wrote the No. 1 hit “Easy Lover” with Phil Collins & Philip Bailey, and appears on more than a thousand recordings. Yamaha has just given Nathan a Lifetime Achievement Award for 30 years of musical excellence, including the development of his own Signature Series bass guitar. In addition to performing at Barack Obama’s Inaugural Concert, East has recently been honored by the United States Congress with a Congressional Record, awarded for his contribution to the worldwide music community as a bassist, producer, musical director, and artist.
