Die Presse praises tenor LADISLAV ELGR'S “fearless singing, not only mastering the treacherous high tessitura of his part, but meeting the vocal demands with radiant fervor” in recent performances of Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Pierre Boulez. This season he returns to Opera Vlaanderen for Erik in Die fliegende Holländer, Semperoper Dresden for Babinsky in Weinberger’s Švanda dudák, and to Deutsche Oper Berlin as Piers de Gaveston in Scartazzini’s Edward II. Future seasons include returns to Opéra National de Paris and Royal Opera at Covent Garden. Last season, he returned to Boris in Kátya Kabanová at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and sang Albert Gregor in Věc Makropulos with Deutsche Oper Berlin and Don José in Carmen at Theater Saint Gallen. He also sang his first performances of Jimmy Mahoney in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny in a return to Opera Vlaandaren and Dionysus in Henze’s The Bassarids with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

The tenor has joined the Theater an der Wien for numerous performances, including Bes in the world premiere of Auerbach’s Gogol, Dante in Francesca da Rimini, Alméric in Iolanta, and Nathanael in Schubert’s Lazarus, and was heard in Dvořák’s Die Geisterbraut. He sang Froh in Das Rheingold at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Edwin Ronald in Die Csárdásfürstin at Oper Graz, Judas in Birtwistle’s The Last Supper at the Osterklang Festival, and Wilhelm in Korngold’s Der Ring des Polykrates at the Festival della Valla d’Itria Martina Franca in Italy.

On the concert stage, he has sung Dvořák’s Stabat Mater and Verdi’s Requiem at Munich’s Herkules Hall; Janáček's Šárka with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin conducted by Marek Janowski at the Berlin Philharmonie, and The Diary of the One Who Vanished at the Kefar Bloom Music Festival in Israel. With the NDR Orchestra, he has sung Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht with Thomas Hengelbrock conducting in Hamburg, Lübeck, and Bremen; Mendelssohn’s Elijah; as well as a concert of opera and operetta favorites. He has also sung Bruckner’s Te Deum, Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Rudolfinum in Prague. He has sung Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde in Madrid and further performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Stift Vorau in Austria.
