About this Artist

Ela Jo Erwin, a costume designer and wardrobe stylist in Los Angeles, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Arizona State University and went on to achieve her MFA in Costume Design from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television. While growing up she spent several years over seas in Indonesia and Yemen where she was awakened to the beauty of textiles and fashion, and became intrigued with the subtle interplay between identity and clothes. No matter what she is working on, it is the use of fashion to build a character, and help to tell a story that continues to gratify her.

She has designed for independent films, commercials, Television and Web Series, but has managed to keep her hand in an array of projects in theatre, dance and opera as well. Her stage work has appeared at such venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Pasadena Playhouse, and the Geffen Playhouse to name a few. When she is not designing, she is probably hiking, traveling or playing with her husband and son.
