About this Artist

Nineteen-year-old CHRISTOPHER FALZONE has received critical acclaim and numerous national and international awards for his piano performances and compositions. Most recently, he received the prestigious Gilmore Young Artist Award, which is designed to single out the most promising of the new generation of pianists in the United States.

Falzone began studying piano at age four and composing at age six. At age nine, he made his debut with Disney's Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra on national television after winning a piano competition sponsored by the Young Musicians Foundation (YMF). In 2002 he made his performance debut in Tokyo; other recent appearances include performances at the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, the Banff Music Festival, the Swiss Embassy, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the Ravinia Festival. Falzone also is an enthusiastic and dedicated chamber musician. He is a member of the Favrile Quartet, which performed at Carnegie Hall in 2001 after being selected by Isaac Stern to participate in a three-week workshop, and in 2002, his ensemble, the Orion Trio, received first prize in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Falzone currently attends the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studies with Leon Fleisher and Claude Frank. He studied previously with Julian Martin and Joanne Kong (a former YMF Scholarship recipient), his teacher since age four.
