LORRAINE FEATHER has earned seven Emmy nominations as a lyricist and also wrote the lyrics for Disney features The Jungle Book 2 and 2004's The Princess Diaries 2 (for Julie Andrews). She has been a recording artist for 20 years but made her breakthrough in 2001 with New York City Drag [Rhombus], an album of Fats Waller's classic piano pieces with her lyrics. This daring CD, her 2002 album Café Society and her current release Such Sweet Thunder-Music of the Duke Ellington Orchestra [Sanctuary], have brought her wide airplay and spectacular reviews. Jazz Times calls Such Sweet Thunder , which features Ellington's music with her lyrics, "Genius. Pure genius."
Lorraine is the daughter of jazz critic Leonard Feather and the god-daughter of Billie Holiday; Peggy Lee was a lifelong family friend whose roommate in the 1940s was Lorraine's mother Jane.
