Conductor ASHER FISCH was born in Israel. He is the music director of both the New Israeli Opera and of the Vienna Volksoper where he conducted, among others, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Wagner), Norma (Bellini) and Der König Kandaules (Zemlinsky). He conducts regularly at the Bavarian Staatsoper Munich, the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, the Vienna Staatsoper where he conducted productions of Parsifal (Wagner), Fidelio (Beethoven), Yevgeny Onegin (Tchaikovsky) and others, at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden where he conducted Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), and at the Los Angeles Opera where he conducted Die fliegende Holländer (Wagner).

On the concert platform his work includes conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburg NDR Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and others. Future engagements include conducting at the Metropolitan Opera and in Huston. Fisch has conducted 16 productios for the NIO since its inception including Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Britten), Yevgeni Onegin (Tchaikovsky), La traviata (Verdi), Don Pasquale (Donizetti), La bohème (Puccini), Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) and The Rake's Progress (Stravinsky).
